CMCSS has purchased Premium Nearpod access for all educators. Several features are new to Nearpod or new with the Premium upgrade. Please see the list below for exciting new features!
Notes - For Students:
When joining a session, students can click "Notes" at the right to access note taking.
Notes will be reflected on each slide of the Nearpod presentation.
Prior to the teacher ending the session, students can Save Notes and send a copy of the presentation with their notes to their Google Drive.
Folders - For Teachers:
Teachers can now add a Folder from the New+ window.
The teacher can use these folders to organize his/her MyLibrary. Example - create a folder for a Unit then add all lessons for that unit to the folder.
Teacher View:
Slides appear in a scrolling view bar at the bottom of the current slide. A green/red symbol shows if all students are present or if some are signed out. The Show/Hide Names feature is on this bar.
Extended Live Session:
A teacher controlled Live Session can be ended or it can be left open and resumed for up to 15 days. To extend a Live Session, do not click "end session" but use the back arrow to exit. The same code will allow students to reenter the session.
Student Paced Session:
Once a teacher makes a session active, students can enter the session and proceed through the slides/activities at their own pace. Student Paced sessions can be left open and available for up to 30 days.
New Sharing Features:
Teachers have always been able to share a prepared lesson via email or other social media. Recipients can open and view a shared lesson or place an editable copy in their own library.
In addition, teachers at CMCSS will now have shared public libraries. Teachers can place copies of a created lesson in a School Private Library that is available to all teachers at that school.
Unlimited Storage:
There is no limit on the number of lessons a teacher can save in their own library or on the data amount of stored items.
There is a limit on the file size of individual files that are UPLOADED to Nearpod.
All Content is now FREE!
All lessons available in the Explore library are now Free. When you click on a Paid lesson, the price should show as Free.
There are also many new content lessons that can be added to a teacher library and edited. Many are created by education industry leaders.
Audio - Device ONLY:
If an audio file is embedded in a Nearpod slide, when the teacher advances to the slide in a Live Session, a pop-window will appear and allow the teacher to select "This Device Only" or "All Devices."
This eliminates the occurrence of an audio file playing on all student devices at the same time (which can be chaotic in a classroom setting).
Rename Sessions in Reports:
A teacher can now rename individual sessions of a Nearpod in the Reports section. This allows a teacher to identify a specific class period or group by name. In the past, it was just by the timestamp of the session. Click the edit pencil to the right of the session timestamp to highlight the session then rename.
Neapod Link Embedded in Canvas:
CMCSS Teachers and students will have access to a Learning Management System called Canvas beginning in 2017-2018. Teachers and students can easily access Nearpod by clicking a
